California Nature Boy Gypsy Boots Interviewed by Groucho Marx

Gypsy Boots was one of the original nature boys… and one of Eden Ahbez’s best friends during the 1940s and ’50s.

This clip (below) is a hoot to watch! It also shows Boots surmising the nature boy ethos perfectly! Enjoy!

  1. Brian:

This is the most polished and understated I have ever seen Gypsy–almost unrecognizable. Additionally, I read a post earlier this week on this blog about the Capital Records tower. I just wanted to say, yes, I have heard many times over the years that it was Nat Cole’s release of eden ahbez’s “Nature Boy” that was responsible for the funds to build the Capitol Tower.

  2. I agree, YB. Gypsy had a very different style of expression than Ahbez, but his message was always well-presented. Sort of like Bob Dylan wrote in 1963: “I’ll know my song well before I start singing.” Thanks as always for your support. Brian
